100 years of innovation

100 years offering closure solutions to the olive oil, liquor and wine industries all over the world. We celebrated our first centenary and are grateful for the support of our customers who we always work closely with, and for the unprecedented participation of a professional team committed to doing the job well.

The history of Torrent Group is linked to innovation and constant excellence in the search for “ad hoc” closure solutions. In fact, we are the first manufacturer in the world of non-refillable cap dispensers for EVOO, and the second for liquors and spirits.

Our journey began with cork. We made cylindrical and conical caps, which later evolved towards a different and novel alternative, such as bartop stopper closures.

We then began offering the first protection and food safety measures, treating the cap with paraffin and applying hot glue. In addition, incredible decorative techniques were developed for the closures over the following years.

Our company began to improve its range of products in the 1970s, offering customers another alternative product. This time, aluminium was the focus for a new kind of closure solution. We were the leaders of a complete revolution, which brought about a very positive change in the non-refillable closure industry. We incorporated and developed all the necessary technology to offer our customers the aluminium screw cap.

Non-refillable valves

Easy opening and closing, an improved seal, competitive price and many decorative options were decisive advantages offered to many customers. In that decade, the first non-refillable valve was developed. Combined with an aluminium cap, it offered the maximum anti-counterfeit security available on the market.

It was a time of change, growth and innovation. Plastic and aluminium joined forces to form a competitive alliance that has endured until the present day. In the last twenty years of the 20th century, Torrent underwent technological modernisation, developed new models and obtained different patents. It was the first company in the sector to use computer vision technology for its production lines in order to ensure the highest quality of its products.

R&D&I

It was with this investment in R+D+I that the Torrent Group entered the 21st century. Design, decoration, the development of more ecological and efficient processes, patents and launches of models which were revolutionary in terms of their innovation (V90, Sintra, Jaipur, Captor, Capceló), the application of cost reduction, the internal development of the entire production process, “ad hoc” closure solutions and new protection systems to prevent counterfeiting: all of these factors characterise a professional operation based on continuous improvement and innovation that has been the key to becoming a leading company in the closure industry.

These premises have allowed us to engage with the world. In the last decade, our international expansion has been remarkable, with factories opening in India and in Africa, and new distributors recruited in Mexico, Russia and Colombia, in addition to the more than 25 we already worked with.
